Coyner Receives Fund Our Schools’ 2025 Education Champion Award
Chester, VA August 26, 2025 – Delegate Carrie Coyner, currently representing District 75 in the Virginia House of Delegates, has received the Fund Our Schools 2025 Education Champion Award. Coyner is honored to receive this award, as she has been a consistent advocate for Virginia schools and ensuring every student receives the quality education they deserve.
Coyner, the sole Republican honoree, was awarded along with five other legislators. In their Facebook post about the award, Fund Our Schools stated: “These six legislators went above and beyond in this year’s legislative session to fight for funding for our public schools, resulting in victories such as fully lifting the Great Recession era-cap on state funding for support staff and a brand new add-on for students with disabilities.” Fund Our Schools also explicitly discussed some of Delegate Coyner’s big education advocacy accomplishments, including that “[she] authored and advocated for the groundbreaking $53 million budget initiative creating an innovative special education funding add-on. This dedicated investment directly enhances educational support and resources for students with disabilities, promoting greater fairness and inclusivity in Virginia schools.”
Delegate Coyner responded: “I am honored to receive this award from the Fund Our Schools coalition. I greatly appreciate the recognition for my continuing passion to improve educational opportunities for our students, support our hard-working teachers and administrators, and assist our parents and families with their involvement in their child’s education. Continued bipartisan work to improve the quality of education for every student is so important. I accept this award and look forward to working with FOS and my fellow legislators on future public education initiatives.”
Fund Our Schools VA “is a statewide coalition of organizations and individuals who believe that every child in every zip code across the Commonwealth of Virginia should have access to a high-quality public education.” Some of their main priorities include: “sufficient staffing, fair funding, and just compensation and supports for educators.”
